What's on in Paris
Out and about in Paris and Ile-de-FranceMONUMENTA 2012 – Daniel Buren
Nef du Grand Palais
10 May to 21 June 2012
A unique artistic event right in the heart of Paris, the annual MONUMENTA invites an artist of international acclaim to transform the 13,500 m² of the Nave of the Grand Palais with an avant-garde work specially created for this extraordinary space, home to the largest glass dome in Europe.
Following the success of the first four editions, commissioned to German painter Anselm Kiefer, American sculptor Richard Serra, French artist Christian Boltanski and then Indian-born British artist Anish Kapoor, it is Daniel Buren, one of France's best known and most acclaimed international artists, who's taking up the challenge with "Excentrique(s), work in situ".
MAC/VAL - Parcours#5 "Vivement demain"
Since 10 March 2012
A fresh look at the collections of the Val-de-Marne museum of contemporary art on the outskirts of Paris with an exhibition entitled "Vivement demain" [Bring on Tomorrow]. The fifty or so works on display look to the future, each work speculating on how it might be - utopian or unsettling, realistic, frantic or disappointing - questioning the different ways you can inhabit the world.
The museum's latest acquisitions are on display and two French artists, Annette Messager and Kader Attia, have been invited to create a work for this, the fifth revamp of the permanent exhibition.

La Triennale - Intense Proximity
20 April to 26 August 2012
Palais de Tokyo
One of the highlights of this year's artistic calendar! The third edition of the Triennial of Contemporary Art is taking over the brand new spaces of the Palais de Tokyo in central Paris and seven associated venues in Paris and the inner suburbs, including the Musée du Louvre, Ivry Centre of Contemporary Art and the Laboratoires d'Aubervilliers.
The event takes stock of the current contemporary art scene. Through the concept of "Intense Proximity", it will investigate what it means to be active as an artist working today, in the context of a globalized and diverse French art scene.
The programme includes exhibitions, concerts, performances and debates on contemporary art, fashion, photography, music and more…
